In a 75-minute set, Nettles played 19 songs that included eight new songs (one played twice) presumably from her upcoming sophomore solo disc “Playing with Fire,” due out in spring; three from her 2014 debut album “That Girl”; and a handful of cover songs – “Ghosts of the past, present and future,” she called it.Nearly all set her apart from her role as vocalist for the band that has sold more than 10 million albums and produced nine gold or platinum singles, five of which have hit No. That might sound like a track record from which a performer might not want to stray, but in Nettles’ case, it freed her to show a broader – and in some cases better – performance palette. In 2010, Nettles, Katy Perry and Keri Hilson opened VH1 Divas: Salute The Troops with a playful and sexy reprise of the WWII-era hit “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” and most recently Nettles treated fans to a show-stopping performance of “You and I” with Lady Gaga at the 2011 ‘Grammy Nominations Live’ concert.Nettles and her Sugarland partner Kristian Bush have performed in numerous European countries and have headlined multiple U.On acoustic guitar, she played and sang it nicely, then was playful and dramatic on the new “Drunk in Heels.”But as she sang her newer songs, the distance from Sugarland grew.

But she opened the show very much like Sugarland -- the new disc’s title track ironically sounding perhaps the most like the group of all the new songs, with Nettles using the brassy, sassy voice that’s her stock in trade with the duo.
And then she did Sugarland’s 2004 breakthrough hit “Baby Girl” – which Sugarland partner Kristian Bush also played in his solo show at Bethlehem’s Musikfest, a quarter-mile away, in August.
